Station Masters Queenslander Country Home

Where 1870s heritage meets modern comfort in the heart of Gin Gin.

A Quiet History

Long before this house stood, the site served as a vital communications hub in the 1870s, connecting the scattered settlements of the Burnett region to the wider colony of Queensland. Telegraph lines hummed with news from the coast, and the station master was the thread between remote communities and the world beyond.

The residence itself was built circa 1928, during the Interwar period, when Queenslander architecture reached its most refined expression. Wide verandas to catch the breeze, high ceilings for the summer heat, and timber craftsmanship that spoke of pride in both place and purpose.

Today, the home has been carefully restored with a philosophy of preserving its historic soul while introducing quiet modern comforts. Every detail honours the original character: the timber floors that have weathered nearly a century, the proportions of rooms designed for a subtropical life, the veranda that wraps the house like an embrace.

“Preserving its historic soul while introducing quiet modern comforts.”

We loved the blend of historic charm and modern amenities. The new kitchen made cooking a joy, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. A truly welcoming space.
